It seems like Thomas Piketty agrees. His new book reports that income inequality is now what it was at the time of the French revolution. Let them eat cake says Mitt and the GOP: http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/rampage/wp/2014/05/01/why-is-pickettys-book-a-bigger-deal-in-the-u-s-than-france-look-at-inequality-here-vs-there/?tid=pm_opinions_pop

Have you ever really sat down and truly thought about what income equality really means? It is nothing more than a communist manifesto, seriously! Is that what you really want? Really?
You will have to give up some of your own to achieve that, you do know that don't you (assuming you're slightly upper middle class)?

Nit wit--I work for free in multiple jobs--but chiefly helping poor kids learn. I give money to scholarships for them. Yes, some level of income re-distribution will make this country more successful. And those who can donate cheerfully, happier. Nit wits are exempt from the joy of giving.

Of course, if the 1% fail to understand the similarities to the French revolution, the least I can do is sharpen the blade of the guillotine so the it is swift and painless. Laughing

Yes. Guys like Romney won't have twelve homes, won't have car elevators, won't have a troupe of dancing horses, won't have multiple hidden off-shore bank accounts, won't have tax returns that he refuses to divulge to the voting public, won't have huge untaxed sources of income.

It also means that more people will volunteer time to help society run better -- which means fewer municipal and government workers on the payroll. And that means lower taxes. (It also means lower employment.)

What do you personally do to help society run more smoothly, NitWit, aside from sitting around flinging feces?

It means there's no reason to become even competent, let alone excel, at anything, because the government will make up the difference with legislation. It means, if the minimum wage anarchists win, that a pimple-faced, unwashed, pothead, dropout can earn as much flipping burgers as his teacher does with his new college degree. If the pothead is flipping tires rather than burgers, and works his way up to managing a tire shop, his pay could far exceed that of his most senior teacher (if, that is, there is no income equality). It means the only people smart enough to begin a new business would never be stupid enough to do so. It means that because the nation's individuals choose mediocrity over excellence because there's no longer any incentive to excel, our whole nation will be mediocre. THAT, in turn, spells the end of what was once the greatest nation on the planet.

And it would all be the fault of the imbeciles who think legislated income equality is a good idea and of the congressmen who passed that legislation to buy votes.

So, Mikey, are you in favor of equal education for all? How about public universities? Do you favor making high-quality education in, say, engineering available to promising kids who can't afford Stanford or MIT or Rice or Stevens or Johns Hopkins or Cornell or Harvey Mudd?

Or maybe those schools should be only for the elite whose parents can cough up to $75k per year. The others, those pimple-faced, unwashed pothead dropouts can do the public university thing. Right?
