Hi guys. I may be travelling to LA and staying there for work. I have two 95-sh liter boards. One wave quad, another freewave tri fin. I can only take one. If you sail in LA which board would you take and what sails to bring? I'm about 175 pounds with advanced skill level.

Thanks

What time of the year? Which part of LA - north or south?

South LA, definitely the freewave. Only really B&J conditions.

North LA either board will work. Bring your slog and ride skills if you don't like sitting on the beach watching others have fun.

If you can travel then you have more chances of getting wind. Jalama's peak season is January to May, and Arroyo Laguna's peak season is February to May.

What is the wetsuit recommendation? I have 5/4 neilpryde 5000 series. What wetsuit for the summer as it can get very hot in LA with ocean being cold..

3/2 for Southern California, and 4/3 for the Central Coast. Moreover, both will take you through the year with no problem, except for the most extreme winter months in the toughest spots where water temps drop below 50-52 degrees F.

Agree with Chandler. I've used a 4/3 for 30 years between LA and Jalama year round. I've thought about getting a 5/4 this winter because I'm not the man I used to be... Laughing

3/2 short sleeve is fine for about 7 months of the year, but you definitely need a 4/3 full suit for the winter months and trips to Jalama and Arroyo Laguna.

I just ordered a new 4/3 from ProMotion, it's all I've ever needed here in the winter. I usually only wear it about 5 or 6 times before I switch to my 3/2 shortie. www.wetsuit.com
