Let's be clear, the "force" used in recent wars has been done in an effort to export democracy and overthrow tyranny and it has not worked because muslims only respect and respond to force. These attempts always result in a breakdown into factions by tribe, ethnic or religious sect using the power of the vote to punish each other. When these countries were ruled by strongmen they largely got along with each other.
I contend these people should be left alone to solve their own problems and punished with overwhelming force if they mess with us.
Limited rules of engagement, peacekeeping missions, this only serves to embolden them when they learn they can shoot at us and get away with it.

"Walk softly and carry a big stick!"

What is so hard to understand about that?

What's hard to understand, Einstein, is that the idiom is "SPEAK softly and carry a big stick."

Gosh, this is fun. Like ducks in a barrel, etc., etc.

Uneducated, ignorant, racist, pigheaded... I bet he votes republican!

What is an example of a nation that has been helped by charity and gov't aid that is a success story and is now better off?
Plenty of examples of nations that have continued to fail and become worse off, all of Africa for starters.

Ever heard of the Marshall Plan? Japan, Germany and the rest of Western Europe are much better off for foreign aid.

In Africa, Botswana is an example of a country that made good use of foreign aid.

I suspect comments like this:

Quote:
muslims only understand force

are posted by evangelicals, fresh from studying the messages of Jesus Christ through their churches, to hate your neighbor.

The American Taliban at work. Giving religions a bad name.

The Marshall plan was aid to already developed nations devastated by war, not relevant what we are discussing here.
Botswana is unusual in a number of respects, with a small population, the most valuable diamond mine in the world and a record of rapid economic growth and stable democracy since it's independence.
Why? because there are essentially no muslims in Botswana, only 5000 in a population of 1.6 million. This means there has been no wars or tribal violence, they are peaceable democratic people blessed with mineral wealth.
