This sucker came out of nowhere, flew directly over our heads at the zenith while hiking up Alta/Snowbird in the summer of 72. It was determined it skipped off the atmosphere, never impacting Earth. Would have been a hell of an impact with enough energy to flatten Salt Lake City If it came in at a steeper angle. This video is from hundreds of miles away, imagine what it was like right overhead! You could hear it crackling, it had a blue tail.
