Hi. I would like your suggestions for destinations to go with kids aged 6 and 8, to get them on a board for the first time in easy conditions and warm water. I am considering Bonaire and Isla Margarita. Bonaire is easier to get to and seems to have easier conditions. Margarita is a more interesting island to keep the wife happy.
Thank you for your suggestions!

Bonaire. Better conditions for kids to learn (knee deep, reef protected bay) and safer (Margarita is in Venezuela).

Bonaire has ideal conditions for a beginner, 3 ft deep max, onshore wind, and nice sand bottom. Very clean environment - tap water safe to drink.

Lac Bay in Bonaire is kid's paradise. It's always chock full of kids on rigs, playing in the shallows or fishing off the two piers. I cannot imagine a safer more kid friendly spot.

Margarita not so kid friendly

I love Margarita but if u can't get a direct flight. Away from Caracas. .. I quit going. I love the place but ...

If u r interested and want more info send me a message but look into Bonaire.

And I'm confident u can keep wife happy there. I hear its beautiful I tried to get there once, I may in future.

Good luck! Max

Bonaire, without a doubt.

Info for the wife:

-excellent restaurants
-nature tours (my wife and I loved the mangrove kayak tour)
-bookable spa "stuff"
-incredible snorkeling in super easy conditions

and last but not least,

-Bonaire is the place for significant others who aren't interested in windsurfing to try windsurfing. Crystal clear thigh-deep water, no chop, friendly breezes, beach chairs right by the water (and food and drink).

BTW "Caribchikita" who posts here is a windsurfing vacation travel agent. She's excellent...my wife and I have been using her for a decade (and are booked through her for a 2014 vacation currently). If you want to dial in things for yourself and/or your wife, I highly recommend contacting her (An) directly.

Bonaire is an ideal spot for learning.
