You asked for it~
"Education is not the means of showing people how to get what they want. Education is an exercise by means of which enough men, it is hoped, will learn to want what is worth having."
"The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isn't so."
"My fellow Americans, I'm pleased to tell you today that I've signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes." (A joke)
"I just happen to believe that free enterprise can do a better job of producing the things that people need than Government can. The Department of Energy has a multibillion-dollar budget, in excess of $10 billion. It hasn't produced a quart of oil or a lump of coal or anything else in the line of energy."
"No domestic challenge is more crucial than providing stable, permanent jobs for all Americans who want to work."
"It is time for us to realize that we're too great a nation to limit ourselves to small dreams."

Are we seriously quoting a man who spied on fellow actors for the HUAC, had the National Guard drop tear gas with helicopters on students at Berkeley, lied to Congress while he sold guns to Contras, and had his wife and astrologer run the country when he got too senile? |

Of course, if NW wants to put a partisan spin on this, we can take nominations for the stupidest thing said by a Republican politician that nobody believed.
I am not a crook. Richard Nixon
I am not a bully. Chris Christie. He must have studied the greats. |

mac would prefer to quote himself, he does often, the problem is that the title of this thread is "Great Quotes", not just quotes.
If I wanted to, I could have gone into BHO's classic quotes, but there is nothing great, quite the contrary. |

"Mr. Einstein would you mind if I showed your paper to some of my colleagues?"
By his professor when Einstein turned in the Theory of Relativity as homework in college. |

Great quote, but unlikely true. He got a diploma from college in 1900 it seems. Handed in his PhD thesis on molecule sizes in 1905, and published his first paper on special relativity the same year (all while working at a patent office, still impressive even if not quite a college kid anymore). |

And won the Nobel not for his Theory of Relativity but for the Photoelectric Effect.
