I'm a poor man, so normaly, I can't buy the last model of board/sail
In fact, I've been sailing with a quiver of S1 2010 salis the last years.
Last November, I bought a new quiver of S1 2012 sails. I've realized that this ones are more compact than the others, and maybe becouse this, more powerful and less neutral.
I'm getting used to sail with them, but I'm not still sure If I like this sails more than the others...
So the question could be, new features/changes always like us...?
(PD: sorry about my english) |

I think I understood your question.
Boardseeker test on the 2012 S1,:
http://www.boardseekermag.com/windsurfing-equipment-tests/2011/4.7-wave-sails/severne-s1-2012.html
this follows generally what I have seen in print on this series, S1.
I have no experience with it.
I would think Seabreeze or the Boards UK forum, would provide MUCH better response than here. Also Severene will reply. think his name is Baranby Jones.
Sailmakes usually tweak, evolve the same sail line, so it continues development from year to year, instead of radical change, THAT usualy involves a name change.

The 2012 was the best sail I ever sailed - light, sharp, springy - wow! I bought a quiver of 13s based on my feeling for the '12s. The 13's moved to four battens and are a different feeling sail. |

I'll match up my 1997 North Spectros, Raves, and Converts to any of the modern sails.
My 1993 GaastraCourseSlalomPro 6.4 is equal in all performance criteria to any modern 6.5 sized sail.
My 2000 Sailworks Retro is equal to any new 5.5 in speed, and is much lighter in weight.
Oh, in case you think I"m a duffer, I sail with the fastest guys in Berkeley, have done practice sessions with TysonPoor, and although I"m NOT the fastest sailor in Berkelely, I"m close enough in all aspects.
I"m just cheap, and subsist on 560 a month. |
