.....there was Division II racing class. Lechner boards were in that class and they were selected for Olympic games in 80's......well, enough history, I want one of those boards in my collection. Does anyone out there have one for sale? Or knows anyone that has one for sale?
I am willing to take it out of your storage, give you some of my money for it and sail it, so it feels loved again.
And don't ask me why, because I have no clue! _________________ double nothing |

I have A Magnum 390 (DII) that i found for $20
Use it once a year .
It is great nostalgia, and i love driving to windward on it.
About 10 minutes later though, i get bored. Maybe if there was a fleet.... _________________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=zw0MgkO7VXw |

Fleet would be nice. Two is enough to have good times.
They are great boards to train on, especially if you do it without harness lines. Technical and hard to perfect, endless challenge on high wind downwind runs.
I would love to have Lechner. _________________ double nothing |

Oh man, you don't need a long list of reasons to want a board like that! If you like the feeling, you just like it. Tough to explain to the non-lovers.
If you can't find an original, the Starboard Serenity offers a pretty similar feel. It looks as though AHD will be releasing a displacement hull for 2011, as well. If I can find the link again, I'll post it. _________________ formerly known as hodad.andy

part of the issue for me is the old stuff, so a new hull would be trick.
i mean the magnum prob ways 40 lbs...i tried making sure it was dry, then i realized....that's what it weighs!....plus kind of junk centerboard, and the old mast-hole thing.
Too many toys!
What i need is a displacement hull that i can SUP.....drop a mastrack on a Bark?....nah, it's the centerboark, and hiking out/railing up that i like
i'll look outfor the AHD....that company is nothing if not creative _________________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=zw0MgkO7VXw |

Come to the right MOWIND (http://www.mowind.org/wp/) races. If there is light wind there might be 2 Lechners & 1 Wayler Division II boards leading the pack. The most likely windsurfing shop to have or know of one for sale is Wind Power in Fond du Lac WI. http://www.windpowerwindsurfing.com/
In the picture at the following link you can find two Lechners and a Wayler just before the start of a race at Wind Power in Sept 2009. The stern of the Wayler shows in the bottom left, beyond that on the left is an Equipe then two Lechners. The woman on the right is on an Equipe. http://www.windpowerwindsurfing.com/gallery/picture.php/363-15-wp_champs/category/20-2009_championships
I think an old Bic Dufour Wing would make a good SUP board and be enjoyable for quite light wind sailing. |

D II minimum weight was 18 kg. That is 39.6 lbs, so your board is dry. For board that big, 40 lbs is not unreasonable. I have seen some D II boards built out of carbon fiber back in 80's, at approx. 30 lbs with additional 10 lbs of lead placed in the center of the board. That worked well, but it was very expensive. Caring 40 lbs board is part of preconditioning necessary to sail it _________________ double nothing |

Good to see someone working on these designs. This board is actually closer to D-I boards that co-existed with D-II but quickly disappeared due to D-II taking over.
The point they are missing here is that these boards are not necessarily only light wind machines. They are all wind machines. D-II was sailed with 6.7m sail, but also 5.6m could be used. Back then I only had D II board and it covered all conditions. In fact D-II on 4-5 beaufort (15-20 knots) of wind was the most beautiful thing. _________________ double nothing |

This is another option:
http://vimeo.com/13242284
That's a Naish Glide 14'......meets my criteria with suppability, but gives up the centerboard....if it had a carbon blade, i would be all over it
And yeah they were "all-wind" I mounted homemade footstraps on my original 390
(what a kook i was.....am) _________________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=zw0MgkO7VXw |
