I'm located in Connecticut. I've looked online and most shops seem to be in RI or southeastern CT which makes sense.
I did have the Mistral Superlight and, yes, it was quite big and buoyant. I also rode my friend's Bic which was much more like this one in terms of its dimensions.
I'm encouraged by the notion of this being an "easy first shortboard". I've spent a lot of time sailing my sunfish boat and am ready for something smaller. I also don't get the chance to surf much now that I'm back in New England so I'm hoping to get my kicks riding something smaller and faster. Per the discussion on the mast base extension I'm including a picture of that and the track. Viewing the linked pages I recognized how the mast foot attaches. I'm also not discouraged by the price. I would like to take the extension and the board to a shop just to make sure.
The summary is great. I have some checking to do before I go anywhere. I'm getting itchy and I have a great 5/4/3 zipperless that could get me out in the lake as soon as it's up and ready.
If the deck is that slippery, would it be foolish to wax the aft area?
I really appreciate all the help here. I've been threatening to get back out on a board for a couple years and it seems I'm about to follow through.
Thanks, all!
