You clearly don't understand what happened in the French revolution. They were executing (depending upon the flavor of the month), people from all political positions. It was not safe to hold any political position during the French revolution. |
My comment has nothing to do with the French or any revolution. It has to do with simple logic.
Unless you define "they," and unless you stipulate that "they" was/were some outside agent/agency, then "they" is/are a member of the same population being executed. (You did, after all, hypothesize that in the French Revolution, "they" were trying to execute everybody across the board.)
The executioner would be the last one standing, so "they" could not effectively execute "everyone"... because the "they" would include the still-living executioner (unless suicide was part of the pact).
Just simple logic. Define your terms more clearly. Don't get your knickers in a twist.
