I use prescription SeaSpecs and like them a lot. On a couple of occasions when I have taken mast hits to the face, they have spread the impact; I got some bruising, but the injury might have been more serious without the goggle frame.

Following up to isobars' post below. In certain conditions, SeaSpecs do not get sufficient air flow to prevent/clear fogging, and I have not found any surface treatment that helps much. Still, I'd rather have foggy goggles than uncompensated myopia.

For me, the choice is dictated by fogging when the water and/or air is chilly (e.g., eyewear is impossible for me when sailing at the Oregon coast). I just can't get enough air flow into goggles, whether vented, double-paned, smeared with anti-fog compounds, or guaranteed fog-proof. When even my prescription sunglasses fog over, I sail without them. |

pair of glasses that float...hmmm...
in other words - reduce possibility of loss and keep on head longer as well
i can't stand sunglasses, but do wear prescriptions
gave up on contacts and so ....
to keep prescription glasses on my head I tie either a cheap rope or fancy one from corner store to an old pair of glasses such that they are held to my head - NOT so tight so as to get a headache
this alone ensures the glasses stay on 99.9% of the time
now what about the statistical remainder?
for that i put a fishing bobber that after tests show glasses float or at least sink slowly
people ask about the bobber hanging out of my hair or how come i did not lose my glasses
others suggest i patent something |

Love the bobber idea! ... (still prefer a croakies retainer with foam float for its negligible weight) ... but the bobber is clever. |

I've used the same brand, different model, for years now. I've sat and stood on them and wiped river grease off them with my bare hands many times every windy day, and they just don't quit. I chuck 'em every few years when they get too scratched up from abuse. Just don't buy them from the pricey eyeglass shops. They want hundreds for the same frames and lenses I get from Walmart of the SportRX site for around $50. |
