I would bet money that at some point in time Roo wore Speedos given that 1. he is Australian and 2. he was involved in the sport since the 80's. Maybe there is even an image floating around the dark web somewhere!

We had some nice runs yesterday during the flood at Sherman. Nice to be able to play this time of the year. It may not be as windy or as exotic as some of you masters of wind would like but it still fun enough for some of us... Very Happy

Now now Tom...no need to dredge up those photos. I was young and naive when they were taken! Sadly I still wear speedos, they're under my wetsuit now so not to offend the wildlife. They do make me feel faster though.

Upwind47 it's good you're feeling the speed vibe, it's all relative...some of us just feel the need for higher speeds to feel alive. Going flat-out in crazy choppy conditions on the edge of disaster feels just as exciting as doing 45 knots on dead flat water. If you're in control you are not going fast enough!

Yes, I agree with Roo. No need to post those pictures here. We should start new topic for that: "Speedsailors with speedos" Wink

BTW did you check out ARooBar this year yet. Didn't get washed out, change shape or anything like that. It's a long drive. I would hate to go there just to find out it is out of service.

ARooBar is looking better than ever. The tide range for use seems to have improved with the west end of the course opening up with a nice channel in front of the marina that works at really low tides. It's blowing there today but only in the 20s. Forecast is looking good for season opener in late October.

Roo

One of these days I'll make it to Chinook for some speed sailing and a Cornish Pasty!

There's a batch in the oven Tom, you're more than welcome to come visit and lay down some runs. Best place in the USA to pop your 40 knot cherry!

Would love to pop my 40 knots cherry at ARooBar. Is Fall/Winter the "best" time to go? Any weeds? Wind reliability (>20kt)?

Should we organize another speed contest after this SFB one? Good to put on the radar so we can get organized and drive up there.

I have speedos, good gear and pumped for some solid adrenaline runs.

In the meantime, let's hope for good wind until the end of October. O.
