Hi, I Just aquired a free 1989 Mistral Pandera. Has 2 sails...Neilpryde 5.4 and a Gaastra racefoil pro 7.0. I have the mast extension (mistral ATS) but no mast came with it. Anyone know where i can get one? Standard size mast??..I'm new to windsurfing. Thanks for any direction.

First of all ... Welcome to windsurfing! To get you an answer, many sails have the mast length (generally in centimeters, cm) imprinted on the sail itself. Would you unroll them, have a look, and then post what you see (either in words or picture). Then, this forum will surely get you answers.

The Gaastra say 465cm, flex 27.5 - 30. The neilpride has no mast length on it...just stiffness 6.2 to 7.4. and boom length etc...no mast in CM. Should i assume you use only 1 mast for both sails? If so, i assume the bottom of the new mast i get would have the ability to slide over the mast extension (1" 7/Cool and lock into the various adjustment holes? Thanks.

your sail has the mast length written as LUFF length, its also written in meters not cm, both sails accept a 460cm length mast, small one with 15cm of mast extension, large with 25cm of extension.

I would considering the other components age :::purchase a used 460 cm length mast in SDM, standard diameter, ( NOT A RDM, reduced diameter mast)

used of 'any' brand that appears or is said to be in good condition

price not more than _____, a new 40% Carbon Chinook is $199, used for the mast your require 50--75

Those sails, and that universal all look very old.

What U2U2U2 says is correct, but I would opt for an extension that would handle more than 25 cms, because those sails will undoubtedly have
stretched somewhat. Standard medium base extensions are around
28cm, that would put you near max extension. A large extension can typically run 48cm, which might be a little tto long inside the mast on the
small sail. If you can, you should try your sails with the extension you
plan to purchase, and see how they rig out.

The original mast for that board was an Epoxy Flex top mast, one piece, blue in color. It is expensive to ship a one piece mast so you should get a more modern 2 pc. mast. The new masts will be constant Curve but should work ok on these old sails. and the constant curve mast is what you need if you buy any sails designed after 1993. If you are in the Chicago area, I have the original blue mast or the upgrade Aluminum mast for $75.
