Hi,
The best thing for you to do is join our Yahoo group and keep up with the goings on there:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/kansaswindsurf/conversations/messages
The water is probably too cold for children now, and our season is quickly closing in on it's end. Round about next May/June should be a good time to come out to Pamona lake and spend a weekend camping and learning to sail. There's usually a bunch of kids out there too. My girls are 7 & 11, and they love going to the lake. It's a great place to camp and relax. There are no formal lessons, but there are always people who'll be happy to help an eager youngster learn to sail.

I will say this:
If you Kansas City folk windsurf as well as you play baseball, then we salute you. (Actually, we salute you regardless.)

Go Royals!!!
That's very kind of you to put that in there. Actually, it's been quite a 2014 for KC sports: KC Mavericks (minor league hockey) made the playoffs last winter, the Comets (MISL....pro-indoor soccer) won their championship, FCKC (Womens pro soccer) won their championship, Sporting KC (MSL) is in the playoffs again after winning the championship in 2013, the Royals are in the world series, and the Chiefs are not sucking as bad as they usually do.
If Sporting KC wins again, then we are.....Soccer-city USA!!!
In fact, here's a picture of me and my 7 yr. old from tonight at Sporting Park watching the womens CONCACAF pre-lims. We got to sit in the ACI suite, courtesy of my wifes employer. It was nice!

Be very careful with that approach. Being an expert WSer and teaching someone else are vastly different skills. The kid's far more likely to get good, valid, motivational instruction at Corpus Christi's Bird Island Worldwinds school ... a day's drive and a great family vacation away. Maybe Mom and Dad will get the bug, too.

Why attempt to throw a wet blanket on the local windsurfing scene in Kansas? I don't get it. I applaud the rigitrite's openness and stoke.
