NECN van was parked behind the Hemispheres restaurant at Town Neck

Here is the article.

Would've been cool if it was sailable, would have been on the evening news again.... BTW, the guy being interviewed talks about the surf coming caused by the jetty.

Nahant was not windy! Well 0-30 so averaging 15!
On the way back we looked at Town Neck again and it looked sweet!!
No way I was putting that wet wetsuit back on in the snow. Oh well.

Great video of town neck with foam streaming up the beach. Compelling audio to go with it.

Lars, glad you didn't freeze, I am game for any day the forecast is over 50, so not in my definition of warm. Maybe hit a SE wind this fall with you. I've been on a mid week program for the last 2 months but can still take a windy Sat/sun if it comes up.

Bummer Nahant wasn't good, Buoys off the boston shore were ripping. Guess you should have brought the Sup.

Here is another video which found this morning.

Looks like I should have gone to Chapin... Bummer. It looked manageable.

Town Neck was thrashed.

lars, Chapin has a flat that goes out almost a 1/3 mile. It's sand at low tide, but a storm like this can keep the tide up. Normal rule there is sailable higher 1/2 of the tide. NNw is dead on shore, but the waves beat down on the outer bank so likely was ok. Go down the road a piece to the east and the bar tapers in, so launch likely looked gnarley, like what you saw at town neck there.

Happy that my saturday soccer spectating was an indoor tournament.

We looked at Corporation. It looked manageable (for experts, not me), with waves maybe head-high, definitely less than mast-high. Saw 2 kiters, including Phil from Inland Sea. The other kiter tried to get out on a 5.5, but gave up when the wind blew his board down the beach before he could step on it. Seemed windy enough for a PWA pro storm chase.

Anyone planning to go out today?

In a full-bore attempt to prove the existence of the "Moron-a-thon", Waterkook...Ninety nine and I ....Left the Cape to find nirvana in Nahant.

The waves looked really good, the direction was right, so that rigging in horizontal snow seemed not a big deal for still warm water.

Granted, sailing on Cape would have involved 4.2's or less in onshore stuff, we reassured ourselves that the snow and cloud were not significan.

As soon as we finished the arduous donnning of gloves and boots and all that crap, the boys headed out with 4.7's, 5.0s and 5.3's into what can only be affectionately known as "Brad's Hole" .....a zone of zero wind which was completely unscloggable. I have not seen such denial of such competent sailors in a very long time.

It didn't help that we all left our big kit at home to make our van ride social, as who would think that, with Cape stuff gusting to the 50's.

Dibs to Brad who with a French Fried Mercedes packed to the gills with Lord-knows-what.....worked for at least an hour to get outside.

And of course on the way home, Town Neck looked AWESOME and filled in on a WNW

Sorry it didn't happen for you guys. I feel a little bad saying this, but the picture painted by your description is hilarious -- driving snow while doing the dance trying to get out through the white water to the promised land only to be denied . . . ouch. Brad's hole, nice touch. How big was it?

How big was Brad's Hole? I am not even going to go there. Shocked

All in all it was a good day for a Sunday ride. We also discovered a good Italian restaurant for lunch.
Just don't order a dark and stormy. Laughing

Oh and one other thing everyone should know. Outcast cheats on his average mileage in his Van.
14.4 volts though not bad.

He did sum up the day quite well and made me laugh again as if I needed another laugh after yesterday.

TEAM ABIDE HAS SO MUCH FRIGGIN FUN!
