Manu, you are making progress but if you would just focus on keeping your front arm straight and in front of you like people have been suggesting for 20 pages you will rotate so fast your head will spin. You want to take off and then mimic someone shooting a bow and arrow (front arm straight and in front of you, back hand in, elbow up) and then look back keeping your bow and arrow position. To break your bad habits you can drill this over and over from a water start position on a windy day. From the water start position , feet in the straps, throw the rig into the bow and arrow position and look back. You will go over the front of the board and the board will follow you. You will find that if you try this drill using the arm position you are currently using you won't go anywhere. Keep at it!

That speed loop was done in quite difficult conditions very choppy and a bit underpowered. And I thought my technique was quite good Smile

Today was very windy, even more gusty 16-29 knots. Probably one of the worst water state I've seen here and I ran into a nice side-side-on chop 1m quite vertical, well powered up, popped nicely, tucked in and landed with a soft body touch and I was up, no need to waterstart. I am so happy. I tried on the other side, there's some work still Very Happy !

Nice loop, glad to see you getting around even underpowered. Being slightly underpowered may help want-to-be-loopers with a "healthy fear gene" to not hold back get around the first time. That helps build confidence to then repeat it in more wind, with (even) better results.

Congrats, inspiring to see you succeed, thanks for sharing the journey!

Thanks guys, I'm so happy and proud too Smile !
Can't help but try them all the time now, getting more familiar with where to set my front hand for optimal power and angle of rotation.

Nice examples of someone really "angry" from both tacks, we can see the sail being briefly pulled over and the back hand looking way back to pull into all of the power:

awesome man! can you share with us what you think your breakthrough adjustment was? the one thing that perhaps made the difference?

I remember all the details of my first loop and the scream I let out when i waterstarted out of it.

Still need to get comfortable w/ my starboard forward. I can do them, but they aren't very clean, and I still have no confidence in them. Here's a video from 2007 of some starboard attempts.

https://youtu.be/SR7DDHzZl6c

Seems like I've made minimal progress since then. Actually, a friend videoed me last month, and I did a starboard forward just to get it captured, as I don't think i've ever seen video of my doing one since 2007 (it happens so rarely).

it's about 1 minute into this vid:

good luck in your journey to master the loop. looking forward to your progress updates!
