Hey Gang,
Barbie, at age 50, has finally taken up windsurfing. You can see in the photos below that her gear selection is eclectic. Her ride is a retro style board with the mast track way forward. But she uses the high boom position favored by hot new school sailors. And her straps are a new design that should markedly reduce the chances of ankle injuries. I am not so sure about the weed fin.
Barbie is clearly a high wind gal with that 1.5 meter sail. Yet she is safety and health conscious with her day glow pink emergency kit and sun glasses.
Despite her youthful appearance item #4 below in Mattel's description suggests Barbie will fit in perfectly with our aging windsurfing population.
To meet your new windsurfing buddy go to the Matell web site: http://shop.mattel.com/product/index.jsp?productId=37986156
Here is a description of Windsurfing Barbie from the Mattel website:
Fly across the waves on the bright pink and blue windsurfing board with spots for Barbie doll to "stand" when she's swooshing across the sea! Also includes a beach tote and sunglasses to stay cool in the sun. Includes Barbie doll dressed for fun in the sun, sports gear and accessories.

Will Ken be kiteboarding? If so, I hope they don't forget the shorts over the wetsuit.

Barbie's such a poser. She's not even wearing a harness!

That is true, and in the pictured action photos, this mast-high girl would also be less-poser and more-sailor if she would just place those sunglasses over her body parts that need them most when shredding on the water: the eyes, not the hair!

Who shaped that board? Not enough rocker. The sail could use some more downhaul to put some twist in the head. Who'll offer to tune her equipment?

she's all set up for speed sailing at Luderitz, starboard tack and all. And look at those snap-in foot straps - we might learn a thing or two from her about safety release?

You already have your own Barbie, and she's wearing a harness every time I see her.
