A few years ago I sent 2 of my Chinook carbon booms back to the factory for re-grip. I pulled off the boom head and removed the tail piece to make 2 separate long arms. I taped the arm ends together at front and back, took it to UPS, slapped on a address sticker with $20 bucks and off they went. The guys at Chinook striped off the old stuff, inspected the carbon arms best they could, then re-gripped it with the original color it came with. The result was excellent with the grip looking like the day I first bought it. Cost from Chinook at that time was about $70, and that included the return shipping a week later in a new box. I took the opportunity to pick up a new boom head and screws for a little extra cost too... indeed a very good deal. And those booms are still working great to this day! Just be sure to contact Chinook to make sure they still offer the service and give them a heads up on what you want done. Always had great customer service from them. |
