I'd trust Bruce over any data base.

If you can wait a few hours e-mail will work, too. Sailworks has un-matched service, always has, another good reason to buy them, as if you needed one. |
I doubt mr Peterson or anyone else will be in position to know the bend of every single mast -espatially from as far back as 2001. If you take a look at the database I stole from the net you'll be surprised how different they are even within the one brand. But anyway-asking is free |

Sailworks responded immediately. Given the mast is 460/25/constant curve, it should work! Hoping to someday pair it with a lightstick. I am shedding kg's left and right with a new carbon boom as well. |

around 2000 Barry Spanier was working with NP
there was a mast called CK66
it was hard top
NP switched to flex top when Barry left
that NP was EVER constant curve - is ANOTHER surprise for me ??
since end 2013 MauiSails is CC/constant curve
even Severne is tending CC as per unifiber chart
after 2015 will all be CC ??

It does say "constant curve" on the mast so I assume it is. |

I just bought a Sailworks 7.0 Retro on Thursday evening, and I talked with Dale Cook yesterday morning about my mast options. Since the 7.0 has an open adjustable top, I entertained the thought of possibly using my 490cm Gulftech 100% carbon RDM. The mast would extend 5-6" out the top, which isn't too bad, but it's going to be stiffer overall. My other choice is an old 1995 Windwing 460cm SDM that was manufactured by Dynafiber that is probably 50-60% carbon. Both masts are a 64/76 (12) bend curve, so both are very close to the ideal mast in that respect.
Dale said that the 490 will work, but the low end of the sail with suffer a lot, especially given my lighter weight (160-165lbs). He said that the 460cm would be my best bet, despite the fact that the lower carbon content would make for a little less lively reflex response. He did emphasize that Sailworks' 75% carbon SDM Joystick would ideal for what I was looking for offering the best balance between performance and durability, and I know he's right about that, but I'm going to give the old mast a go to see how things go. |

The bend information for the Neil Pryde 2000 Wave Pro 460 is listed on their web site. Go the bottom of their home page and select the 2001 catalogue archive.
The 1/4 bend is 112, the 1/2 bend is 172, and the 3/4 is 133.
To convert to percent.
1/4 = 112/172 X 100 = 65.1%
3/4 = 133/172 X 100 = 77.3%
77.3 - 65.1 = 12.2 so the mast is constant curve
The IMCS is 25
Sailworks recommends an IMCS of between 25 to 30
Their ideal recommended bend curve is 64% and 76% which is 12
The Neil Pryde 2000 Wave Pro 460 mast is very close to Sailwork's recommendation. |

New sail = big bucks. Old use mast might fail and shred your new big buck sail. You can not tell by inspecting an old mast how much life it has left. To get the most performance out of you new sail and insure many happy days on the water get the new mast that goes with your sail....Its worth the investment... |
