I finally found some booties that fit right but to get that fit they are thinner and the soles especially a bit too thin.
To build up the soles under the balls of my feet would ShoeGoo or some sort of rubber cement work best?

Not exactly answering your question but I want to share my latest and greatest double bootie solution that has worked amasingly for me for almost a month now in the freezing waters around Chicago. I put size 12 NP short summer booties on top of my size 11 3mm long Atans. Finally my feet are warm AND comfortable the whole session long. I wear 11 but I had this 12 NPs laying around and thought -why not-the Atans look like socks anyway Smile

Beaglebuddy,

FWIW, I tried shoegoo once and found it to be too slippery. Even tried sprinkling a little sand into the goo before it dried.

beaglebuddy, I'm thinking that you have an interesting opportunity. If you can shape an added sole or layer for your current booties, you can just bond it on. Thin, yet tough enough to be resistant to the reef and urchins.

Yes but what do I use? What kind of glue/cement?

If I wanted to learn more of what's available, I'd initially focus on the dive and wetsuit businesses, particularly those that support and service what they sell. Also, why not call NSI and ask what they know about sheet materials and adhesives? What I'm afraid you're up against is most of the manufacturing is done offshore, especially the plastics and molding markets associated with footware.

I have found that thin soled winter booties fold up under my arch and can be quite painful when I stick my foot in the straps. A solution has been to put full foot inserts (Dr. Scholls, etc.) to stiffen up the soles. However, you have to have some room inside to make it work. For me, I have to buy size 13 to get the length I need, but the booties are too roomy (I have a narrow foot), so the insoles help fill the extra space.

I am still looking for the perfect winter bootie, that's not a split toe. I also need a top of the arch strap to keep my toes from jamming into the end of the bootie.

Try my double bootie system -you won't regret it. The Atans don't fold inside and the NPs ankle strap on top keeps everything nice and tidy-I should patent it perhaps Laughing

I just got some shoe goo for my walking shoes, I think it's going to be a bit too hard and slippery for the booties. What is the stuff they put on the seams of wetsuits and booties? Like a liquid rubber.
