|
|
Hi everyone!
Haven't been to the Gorge in 10 years.
Are there any rentals right on the water currently? Advanced sailor, visiting Portland for 4 days in late July, driving from Portland.
I suspect Windance and Big Winds are still renting, but we might have a tiny compact rental car, and it's 2 people total.
Probably will be for a weekday, maybe Monday. I know Rhonda used to have rentals on the shore just upwind of the bridge, but that was decades ago.
Thanks for any info. |

Thanks everyone....
I was suffering brain fade from the proposed bill for my EuroVan fuel line (120 bucks plus labor).
I looked up windsurfing rentals Hood River and got a good answer to my question, thanks. I forgot I liked Windance, and we've ordered stuff from both there and Big Winds.
Brain fade from sticker shock, thanks, everyone. |

Now you know why most people sell their volkswagon/audi at 100k. |

Thanks for the advice.
We bought the EuroVan at 116,000 for 1,000 bucks.
Hopefully, will keep it through this season, and wishfully, the next.
Prolly not. |

I don't know of any homes/apartments on the water other than Rowena. The train track keeps most homes away from the water. As to near the water (as within a mile) that might have a shot...
EDIT. Wow somehow I thought you meant home rentals near the water. I have no idea how I missed thst.....

Hi John....
Thanks, we'd only drop in for a Tuesday, from Portland, and will have a rental car. Probably Windance, after checking if there's wind around. |

Big Winds has portable foam racks and tie downs which slap on the roof of any car. If the wind is good it will be well worth driving with a few things sticking out your windows for a few miles to the event site or the Hatchery at least. They are extremely accommodating, particularly if you call ahead and explain your needs. |

Thanks again, Surfer Steve..
I like Big Winds, we bought a Magic118 from them.
And one of my former employees worked there for 8+ years, back in the late '90's to early 2000's.
Both Windance and Big Winds seem pretty solid as windsurfing shops, the choice to be determined at the time of visit. |

I've been confidently buying stuff and getting product advice from both since the mid-80s, with only one single complaint the entire time (ONE employee, ONE time, now long gone, tried to steer me away from my board criteria and into what he had in stock.) Both shops bend over backwards to treat their customers right, in my experience. |

Yes, absolutely Big Winds.... much better attitude and information there. They are much more accepting of the "old school" approach and don't try and pressure you into the "latest and greatest", the "spendy and trendy". Just good folks. |
