|

Attention racers and non racers alike.
In addition to the slalom series to be held at the St. Francis Yacht Club on Friday nights (May 29 ,June 26,July 24 & August 21) this season, we are also organizing a second slalom series on Saturdays to be held at Crissy Field, the day after the Friday night races.
We need your support to ensure slalom racing will happen this season in San Francisco. 4 race dates are planned for the 2015 Crissy Field Slalom Series on Saturday afternoons-May 30, June 27, July 25 & August 22. A 4-5 mark downwind slalom course will be set with a start at Anita Rock and a finish off the St.FYC race deck with an A fleet start for experienced racers and a B fleet start for less experienced racers. If you've never raced- this is your chance. Its a fun easy to get around course that takes less than 2-3 minutes to complete. Several races will be run for each fleet and awards will be held afterwards at the picnic tables at Crissy near the windsock.
By donating to the crowdfunding site (https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/8yK3b/ab/d4gTQ1) - you can ensure the series will happen. A $100 donation will allow us to secure a race committee boat, race director, marks, & anchors for 4 races this season + it ensure you a spot on the starting line at a reduced fee of $25 per race day vs $30 if you register for a drop in race. A $250 donation allows you to become a sponsor of the event with your name and company's logo on the series marketing material, press releases and official web page + a spot on the starting line!
The 1st 2 events are scheduled for May 30 and June 27 but we need to crowdfund the remaining funds to ensure the last 2 events on July 25 & August 22 will happen. We consider your donation to be an essential part of making the series happen. Even if you're not racing, we would love your support in making this happen. In addition to the funding we will also need several volunteers to help with scoring and act as a beach master. Without it, the organizers (Steve B, Jean R and Soheil Z) are left holding the weight of the event on their shoulders.
Additional details (NOR, sign up page and SI's ) will be posted shortly but we want to get a head start on making sure it all goes down.
Thank you for your support and see you on the water.

Thanks Steve, Jean and Soheil for taking this on. I'm happy to make a donation to the cause, and I look forward to joining the B fleet when I can.

Thanks for your support guys- after just 2 days- weve raised 28%.
If you haven't already- and want to make sure the series happens, please consider pre registering for the event with your $100 donation at the fundraizr site- https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/8yK3b/ab/d4gTQ1.
Here's some clarification regarding the pre registration, series registration and drop in race fees + link to the official entry page:
By donating to the crowdfunding site up to 1 week before the 1st event- you can ensure the series will happen + get a reduced entry fee. A $100 donation (before May 23) will serve as your pre-registration for the series (vs $120 if you pay for the series after May 23.) Individual drop in races are $30 each night. A $250 donation puts you in 'wind god status' for the remainder of the season and Ill even derig your sail on race days.
Registration & more info for the crissy field slalom series can be found at:

In just over a week. we've raised $1550- 62% of our budget.
You guys are great.
We're almost there for securing all 4 events for the series but still need some more help. If you'd like to become a series sponsor at $250 (or more) - please contact us by may 5th at crissyfieldslalomseries@gmail.com so that we can make sure we get your logos and branding in time for the 1st race.
Also- if you've already donated- please dont forget to follow through and register at http://www.calcupevents.com/CFSS.shtml We want to make sure we've got your sail number and prefered division.

Steve/ Crissy sailors
Was thinking about coming up from So Cal to take part in the races Friday night and Saturday. What impact does this road closure have on trying to get to the race site on both Friday night and Saturday ? Will it be a traffic nightmare, any driving direction suggestions for an out of town sailor who hates traffic ?
oyle Drive closed from 5/28 to 6/1.

If you're coming in fairly early, before 4pm, you'll probably avoid the major traffic. Just avoid the obvious routes like Van Ness, Lombard St., Bay St. if you're coming from the Bay bridge and 19th Avenue if you're coming from 280.
You have to think like a local and just stay on the surface streets and get down to the beach through the Marina or the Presidio. It's a bit confusing for an out of towner but if you get caught in slow traffic, just get off that road and take surface streets in the general direction. You're GPS will reroute you if needed.
Glad you can make it. Don't forget to sign up at http://www.calcupevents.com/CFSS.shtml for Saturday's race and at https://www.stfyc.com/default.aspx?p=.NETEventView&ID=3867237&qfilter=&type=0&ssid=242480&chgs= for Friday nights.
Feel free to contact me off line for more help.
