Are there any Dallas area sailors on this site? Where are you guys doing most of your sailing? I am trying to get a trip to come down for a day or two next week if it blows 25+. Would like to hit a lake around Dallas.

Thanks,
RIP

Don't live there any more, but Windsurf Bay Park on the west side of Lake Ray Hubbard (south winds) is the most popular place. If the wind is north, there is a park on the south side of the Power Plant, which is just south of Windsurf Bay Park. Next would be Lakeview Park on the west side of Lake Grapevine (north and south winds).

I hear Galveston TX is the place to go. Scenic, clean water, side-sideoff. Don't worry about the shipping lanes. -A bit more of a drive, but go for it. Wink

While you can find wave sailing in Galveston, the "dike" in Galveston Bay is where most sail in the Houston/Galveston area. However, if there is wind in Dallas, NO ONE would drive 5 hours to Galveston to sail. It's usually windy in both places about the same time.

Maybe a bit late for your question, but check out the North Texas Wind Riders http://ntwr.org/.

Also for a really long drive, I would recommend Corpus Christi over Galveston. The Houston sailors drive to CC rather than Galveston whenever time permits.
