I don't care if someone on port "takes the high line" on me, but, dude ... do it from the get-go so I know your intent and can give it to you, rather than trying to steal it at the last minute.

Always look over your shoulder before jibing. Early in my career, I was following a sailor and was just behind and downwind of him - blind spot (I know better now). He jibed and I T-boned him and he wound up with a pretty bad cut on his leg requiring many stitches. No gear damage.

Now, it I can't pass upwind, I will bare off considerably to pass fast and out of the way downwind.
