Hi Gang,

It seems like the local server that collects and sends the Sherman Island sensor information has failed. While we are awaiting our sensor crew to fly in with a new server here is an alternative.

Several customers have been sending in frequent Sherman Island onsite wind reports that you can access via this page:

http://www.iwindsurf.com/windandwhere.iws?regionID=163&siteID=6877

The reports are like this:

Wind is WSW @ 18-22 mph and steady. Waves are whitecaps. Tide is ebbing. 5-10 people out. 5-6m sails.

We can not vouch for their accuracy but so far all the ones I have seen are from people I trust. Those of you with our wind meter can just hold up the meter and send a report to the new iwindsurf.com site.

Hi Dennis,

All we know is that it is not a sensor problem since both sensors went out at exactly the same moment. Since we can not ping the sensor it is either that the server failed or the phone lines have been out at our land based server site for a very long time.

So you have any information about a local outage? If it is a local outage it would save us the expense of flying someone out to Sherman Island.

Just guessing, since RVWA Windtalker (co-located with M10 receiver at Rio Viento) was out as well (and staticky when called.) And all three just came up!

Is Iwindsurf going to join the 21st Century and create a better interface for that onsite report thing? Thank god for social media.
