On my return trip during a session, illusion of flame coming out of back of board because of drop on GoPro lens.

Very cool ! Your board has the perfect color for the illusion . Btw your bottom batten bends to outside the same way like mine when I had a too stiff of a mast. You may want to loosen it a bit or try a softer mast/or a different bend.
If you take a closer look at my Retro 9.0 in the picture you'll notice the same thing-a bottom batten bent to outside, the sail had a poor rotation too because I was using a racing mast with a very stiff bottom section that was fine for my cambered Loft Switchblade sail. Replacing it with a softer closer to 12 bend coefficient mast corrected the problem right away.

Adywind, you are saying to loosen the lower batten?

It surely needs something ... probably loosening, maybe a downhaul tweak. Battens need only be tightened/tensioned juuuuuuuust enough to eliminate their own tiny wrinkles; any excess inverts them, impairs rotation, and/or wears out the ends of the batten pockets.

Do you ever see any other windsurfers on Lake Santa Fe?

I graduated from UF way back in 1990 and spent lots of time on that lake during my college years.

That's right. Loosen until you get to the point after which wrinkles appear . Also check the clew batten and the one on top of it-those two should be the most tight , especially the clew one . Tighten those a bit , but remember how much and if the rotation gets worse reverse to the original positions. If the sail has cambers /and it looks like racing one/ check for spacer behind the cambers-you may have to just switch their places or add/remove some instead of fiddling with the battens. In general with these kind of sails you want a good shape in the middle with very tight battens, not so much in the bottom and not at all at the top.
What brands/models are the sail and the mast?

Seems like you have the first board with afterburners. Nice!

UF Mechanical Engineer Professor Peter Ifju used to be on Lake Santa Fe practicing for regattas and screaming across the lake with his Mike's Lab Formula kit. He still comes out, rarely. Couple of guys starting to get back into it, slowly.

As for my sails, 2009 VMG 11, 9.8. Mast is Neilpryde X6 , IMCS 32. 100% carbon.
