NC Shark attacks Oak Island

In the news yesterday, 2 teens about a mile apart were attacked, last reports they were stable after being airlifted. Loss of an arm in both cases.
Both in waist deep water.

Well wishes for them and family.

Anyone hear on the type shark ?

Sad and scary news indeed. My guess would be a Bull Shark. They can be very aggressive and can take a limb with ease.
I know the odds of getting attacked are slim, but when you spend 80 days a year in the ocean your odds have to rise Crying or Very sad

did you notice all the sargassum seaweed on the beach? piles of it.. that comes from the gulf stream.. it gets blown in.. lots of little fish, crabs, birds etc.. and sharks..follow that stuff for an easy meal. its super sad that some kids that were boggie boarding out it those conditions. anytime you see little dead fish on the beach mixed with sargassum and/or birds diving into the water..be wary.. of course i'm preaching to the choir..as most iwindsurf forum users already know this..its sad that it happens to vacationing people that don't know any better..my heart goes out to those kids.
