The 3rd Crissy Field Slalom Series of the season went off in epic conditions with 22 A and B fleet windsurfers taking to San Francisco the city front course in a building breeze and tide. By the last race it was blowing 25-30k+ with big ugly voodoo chop all over the course-perfect for slalom racing.

A 5 buoy down wind course from Anita Rock to the H beam set just west of the St.FYC with 10 Heats run before racers called it quits or retired from sheer exhaustion. The biggest upset of the day came in the last race in the biggest breeze with recreation windsurfer, Olan Kenneally from San Francisco getting the last bullet on his wave board and 5.0 rig- proving that its not what you ride- but how you ride it.

The key to slalom racing is getting a good start and coming out of the 1st mark in good position with speed. If you can stay out of trouble the rest of the 2 min race, it's all good.

Xavier Ferlet from Santa Clara, Ca dominated the fleet finishing in the top 3 every race (excluding 2 through-outs.) That was enough for him to take his 2nd win of the season putting him into the series lead going into the last race next month on August 22.

The fleet was then treated to a post racing BBQ and awards on the beach- but with a new twist. Instead of giving the best awards to the top 3, the back of the fleet was awarded the best shwag donated from Ultra Nectar Clothing company and iwindsurf with iphone anemometers.

The fourth and final Crissy Field Slalom Series race of the season will be held this Saturday (tomorrow!) August 22. Come on out on whatever gear you've got. It's totally fun! The winner of the last race of the day in the A fleet last time was on his bump and jump gear...

You can sign up or get more information on the event website:

See you on the water!

Yes indeed! It's going to be a great final event. Our generous sponsors have given us tons of swag for giveaways and we're hosting a huge Pizza Party for all participants.
We welcome the entire windsurfing and kiting community as well as all the Crissy Field Yacht club members to join the party and bring your bbq for an evening of fun and celebration.

And don't forget that the Kona trailer will be on site for Demo's and great deals and savings $$$$ on the demo fleet. It's heading back to the Florida warehouse next week so get them while they are here and save.

Sail On
