The 3rd Annual East Coast Windsurfing Festival Cape Cod is coming on September 19-20, 2015 to Kalmus, and we got exciting news:
Kiri Thode, 2013 PWA Freestyle World Champion, will be there! Kiri is excited to return to Cape Cod, where he had early success at the original "King of the Cape" festivals. If you have seen the "Children of the Wind" movie, you know the story!

Kiri is currently #2 in the PWA freestyle rankings. He will travel directly to Sylt after the event to compete in the last PWA freestyle event of the year. Please show your support for getting one of the best freestylers in the world to Cape Cod and help us pay for Kiri's airline ticket! We have a number of unique rewards for donations, including:
- Signed event T-shirts
- An iWindsurf Pro membershi
- A private lesson with ABK's Andy Brandt
- A private lesson with Kiri Thode

For this year's ECWF Cape Cod, we also have added a new class and a new race format to make things more interesting. For all those who don't want to use big sails or who don't have longboards, we have added a Shortboard/SUP class with a 6.5 m sail size limit - no daggerboards or race SUPs allowed! For all those who like to go fast, but prefer to pick there own course, we will add some GPS-based freeraces: whoever sails the fastest in a 20 or 30 minute race wins! But we have added a twist: anyone who does freestyle tricks right in front of the spectators will get "bonus distance". This will even out the chances between the speed sailors and the freestylers, and should be very interesting to watch!

Sponsors to support the event are already lining up. Giveaways for the raffle for all participant include:
* An Ianovated wetsuit
* A free ABK camp
* A new Point 7 sails
* Makani fins and/or gift certificates
* A 1-year iWindsurf Pro membership
We are still expecting to hear from more sponsors, so come and play!

Many thanks to all those who have donated already - we have reached 24% of our goal in 2 days Smile. All donations help, even small ones!

Also many thanks to Ann from Caribbean Wind & Sun Vacations, who has donated a week in her Bonaire cottage as a "perk" for a $750 donation. Many Bonaire regulars have booked through Ann and know her well. This is a great chance to spend a week in Bonaire in a nice cottage, while at the same time helping to bring Kiri Thode, one of the best freestylers in the world, to the ECWF Cape Cod in September!

Kiri has bought his ticket and will definitely be at the event.

Online registration is now open at http://www.ecwindfest.org/register.php. After registering, you will see an option to pre-pay the registration fee of $20 (until 9/14/2015). On-site registration this year will be $30 for one or both disciplines (freestyle and racing, including freeracing).

One more week!!! Not to jinx it, but windfinder has wind for both Sat. and Sun. next weekend. Combine that with some serious talent (I'm talking PWA world champion level talent) and this will not be an event to miss!!

More info: www.ecwindfest.org

See you there!

Kiri is on Cape Cod, and there's a good chance that he'll be sailing at Kalmus on Thursday or Friday afternoon - probably both days if we get a nice sea breeze. The weather forecast for the weekend looks great, too - sunny and in the 70s. We should see decent wind for racing and freestyle. The way the wind has recently come in above forecast, there's even a decent chance that we'll get at least some hours of planing conditions. See you at Kalmus this weekend!
