Some guys have been kiting at Millerton on Tomales Bay the last three days in a row when the rest of the Bay Area has been in the doldrums. Check out the sensor for Inverness Yacht Club--I didn't even know there was one.

Anyway I understand the launch is quite a ways from the Millerton parking area--too far to haul windsurfing equipment. However just across the Bay from Millerton and very close to the Inverness Yacht Club sensor is Chicken Ranch beach where a few of my friends use to sail when Grassy Point was too much for them. If the wind comes up to 18 mph today I am going to give it a try. I will report the results if I go.

The wind did not make it to shore at Chicken Ranch, but I could see kiters about 3/4 to a mile down wind. Marconi had the best chance for launching a windsurfer, but it wasn't enough and wasn't equal to the wind at Millerton, where a 7.0 could have been effective.

Chicken Ranch is better on NNW, as it fills in to the beach then.
WNW leaves a wind shadow, but still slogoutable.
N can fill in, but leave nowhere to actually windsurf.
