Hi Gang,

Take a look at the satellite imagery video from 8AM today. Over us you can see the heat producing upper ridge (the northward loop in the wind & clouds) centered about ≈ 18,000 ft. above us and bringing heat, a crushed marine layer and weak wind. Note how it is moving to the east.

Then look out in the pacific and note the incoming upper trough which is the southward loop in the wind & clouds. If this puppy keeps on its current trajectory it comes over the Pacific Northwest Sunday and it will:

1. Bring increasing mid level clouds.
2. Deepen the marine layer
3. Shove the surface North Pacific High pressure closer to the coast
4. Deepen the low pressure in the Columbia Basin to the east.
5. Transfer momentum to the surface winds adding a gust factor.
6. This will be unstable air that lifts when it hits hills so think about places with lower topography to the west.
