Good question scargo. Rswabsin, is Allen Rd in Bayville? I'm coming from Philly so may stop there first if forecast drops or wait till Sunday or Monday to hit spyhouse.

I think Allen Road is technically in Berkeley. It is a couple miles North of Trixies. On a strong East wind, your car will get hammered by spray at Allen Road (same with Laurel Blvd which is South of Trixies). The parking is literally a couple feet from the bay. Trixies is better IMO because you can rig and park in a somewhat protected area and carry your gear to the water. Allen rd also has some fairly jagged rocks in the water near shore, so water shoes are recommended.

Hope Bred answered your questions on the Allen road question. Wind may be up first further south so maybe that's a good call for Saturday. Then give Spy House a try Sunday. Hell with the current forecast we could hit all the spots mentioned over the coming days. It'll be fun to meet you all in person. This has been the most active thread in a while. I'm leaning towards Trixies now myself for tomorrow. Hope to see you all there.

How are you going to launch there on ENE? Is park allowing to launch from tip?

The tip of Trixies is still closed from hurricaine Sandy damage (technically you were never allowed to launch from there anyway). Last year during a strong nor'easter we had a state of emergency and they did not open any of the park gates, but I just drove down to the end of Brennan Concourse as far as possible, jumped the wooden fence between the road and park, rigged, and launched. It is a little bit of an upwind sail to get out into the main part of the bay, but really no big deal. If you can't manage the short upwind trek, probably shouldn't be out in storm winds. Usually staying upwind is the easy part, it's going downwind that gets hairy...

Ok great! I'll try and be at trixies around 11:30am if the forecast holds steady, it would be great to have some company on the water. if the wind is already up and humming at Sandy hook please post here and I'll head that way then.

Cheers,
Jaco
