Average harness line length of PWA pro.

Earlier this year, my adjustable harness lines gave up the ghost, as did my boom. So I bought a new boom and harness lines. I couldn't decide between 28" and 30", so I bought both.

for one reason or another, I haven't had a chance to try either. At this point, the 28" are on starboard tack, and the 30" are on port.

Taken from an article by Matt Pritchard. A poll of PWA pros. Thats an average of almost 33 inches which means some might be using 34 or 35 and some 30 - 31?

At 5'-8" I'm using 30" fixed and want to try a touch longer. Looking to be able to release the line from the hook when standing without using my hand. Using seat harness, straps out, boom a little below chin.

I use 22".
5'10".

The PWA Pros that have the long lines are the guys slalom racing. Not wave or freestyle. They typically are on large cambered sails.

I also use 22'S with a seat harness. Takes all the load when powered up. Boom is shoulder high. Don't use the harness unless powered up..

Don't forget that a waist harness typically requires shorter lines (higher hook). Seat = longer lines.

Typical PWA slalom sailor is 6'2" tall and 190 lbs.
Are you that size?
