Looking at the empty lot that has become of Candlestick Stadium I find myself dreaming of an alternative to the "development" that will take its place.
Imagine: a Park that doubles in size to occupy the whole area from the water front all the way to the ex-stadium location. Greens, trees, maybe a soccer and baseball field. Something visionary, close in size to Coyote Park, and that can really serve a community, instead of the grim reality of speculation and yet another shopping mall.
Obviously a dream in a city lost in between real-estate moguls and libertarian techies |

Sounds like you want to start a "Friends of Canflestick Park" not for profit? Other friends of groups have been very successful in representing and implementing alternative community visions for underutilized public land. I'm honestly not sure who owns the land though? Is it the city? |
