4 times over 53 kts at Luderitz for Antoine Albeau: just did 53.01 kts it is the new world speed record. Patrik is going above 52, Farrel O Shea above 51!

Scary fast! 53 knots is 61 miles/hour!!!

Notice the one sided booms people are using

!!!!!!!!! A DREAM COME TRUE !!!!!!
finally I managed to bit my Windsurfing World Record I just did 53.27kts ( 98.66km/h ) !! this is unbelievable I can't imagine that today I could pass the 53 barrier, this is amazing, I was pushing so much the limits the last 4 days that it pay off, I am so happy !!!!!!
I did few times over 55.50kts ( 102.79km/h ) in Vmax ....

They are inching closer to recapture the record from the kites Very Happy

I love the bend in the mast in the photo.

but on a side note....
I still would rather they set speed records similar to how they come up with land speed records....ie: sail from point A to B...then you get a few minutes and sail pt B to A...avg out the two. that way you are sailing. otherwise i'll throw up a bedsheet and a 2x4 and hit the water during the next hurricane that hits. I'll bet i break 75+mph easy ! (i'll be out of control...and maybe dead....but my legacy would live on !)

As an alternative to a Hurricane you could jump off with a wave board from a 500 meters tall building (there are a few): you'll average more than 50 knots. Twisted Evil
