A protruding dagger top is useful in being able to stomp it through the gasket while bouncing about on rapid course changes, without having to lose balance while trying to hook a foot forward beneath the stiction of the knob.
Agree with making marine ply daggers, Made three of them when racing Bics.
Also agree that the normal (not superlight) 90's European longboards were produced in the era when things were not instantly disposable. Mistral D.C.S. (durable carbon system) was, to my mind, a benchmark construction. Still have two such boards, neither of which had, or needed, vent plugs.
The Screamer has been battered (cartwheeling up beach in gale), jumped, and pounded in surf, and remains sound to this day. It's now old enough to use more frequently again, as a retro thing of interest. It brings forth comments - especially when it 'lights up' in favourable conditions! (Enjoy that!!) |
