Has anyone sailed the Stubby w/o the thrusters? It feels like I'm sailing with weeds on my fins unless I'm lit up. I assume upwind and tight radius turning would be compromised. |

How much experience you have sailing multi-fin boards? _________________ Andrew

i have been sailing off of single fins for over 30 years. i may not be the fastest sailor in the world but faster than average. why do i care about speed in waves? most times i am sailing beach breaks with little to no channels available and following currents. need upwind planing power and acceleration to deal with these challenges.
the upright stance required for small multi-fin boards does not suit my sailing preferences, nor the lifetime of the above challenges of what beach break sailors have to cope with.
additionally, short hulls that provide twisty turns are very unstable in schlog mode. thus my perspective of short, stubby, and wide boards is unfavorable. threy require being lit up, or used in perfect side off reefs with very steady winds. lots of paradise boards available, yet so few venues/customers that can use them. this industry goes out of its way to destroy itself. _________________ www.aerotechsails.com

My experience with boards that are too short and equipped with small fins do not work well in real world wind conditions. |

The drag you mention is one of the multi fin draw backs, quad or Tri.
I have not sailed the Stubby, nor even seen one. My Witchcraft I sailed once in single and never thought about it again.
IMO it's counter intuitive to sail single on a board shaped as a single.EDIT.. SHAPED FOR 3 fins.
Thought one, get on the BOARDS UK FORUM, AND ASK THIS.
thought two, the fins can be improved on.
You have lots of options for fins, both the center rear n sides.
K4 would be the ticket. _________________ K4 fins
