Hi All,
If you haven't already seen it, check out this You Tube video of Hobie Alter and how he started shaping balsa wood surfboards in his parents garage and how he grew from there-REALLY cool video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lU3fickcDAI
Gordon Clark of Clark Foam also is in the video. Together, Hobie and Gordon inented the modern day foam surf board and of course the rest is history!
I know this isn't really windsurfing news, but it does have a place in the birth of all many watersports related-including our fair sport of windsurfing.
Hope you all enjoy the video.
Caowa-bunga!

So cool! My first board was a balsa Hobie...an antique when I got it around 1963. When I was in a skateboard contest in Anaheim about that time, I met Hobie and showed him the board. I was impressed, I'm not sure about him. The board ended up waterlogged and unloved and became part of a chicken coop. Had I only known..... _________________ /w\ |
