Gordon Clark of Clark Foam also is in the video. Together, Hobie and Gordon inented the modern day foam surf board and of course the rest is history!

I know this isn't really windsurfing news, but it does have a place in the birth of all many watersports related-including our fair sport of windsurfing.

So cool! My first board was a balsa Hobie...an antique when I got it around 1963. When I was in a skateboard contest in Anaheim about that time, I met Hobie and showed him the board. I was impressed, I'm not sure about him. The board ended up waterlogged and unloved and became part of a chicken coop. Had I only known.....

Wow! Does you chicken coop still exist?
Glad you enjoyed the video. Seems it was a magical time, when surfing really became popular. Those guys were da bomb!
