Aloha, I'm new to the neighborhood. Won't start sailing hear til probably 1st week in March, as traveling up til then. I live off Pineda causeway and as of yet haven't seen the perfect grassy slalom rigging/ launching spot that's kanaha type friendly for in and outs and testing . I've seen a couple nooks and crannies that will be doable, but just wondering if there's something right under my nose that I'm missing ? Advice is welcome.
PS….. MY storage has some brand new slalom sails, slalom boards and sup boards that are happy to walk out of there at cost price if any interest.
Aloha,
Josh Angulo

just north of pineda is a park on US 1. it worx on NNW to east(ish). look out for some recent wrecks. dunno if they've been cleared yet or not. i haven't sailed there in years.
SE, dunno what to say other than start lurking about.
scurrah's landing in melbourne may be the same drive as kelly park. westerlies, banana river resort. _________________ www.aerotechsails.com

Scurrah's Landing in Melbourne just south of the 192 causeway. I sailed out of that park a lot when I was going to FIT. It has good parking and grassy rigging. Watch out for manatees and sting rays.
For West winds, I would typically go across to Melbourne Beach and just park at the end of one of the countless residential roads that lead to the water. Rigging area is very minimal on that side however.

Over the years, I have found spots to park and launch on all four area causeways but launching locales are now less friendly, rocks and difficult parking. The best locations with close parking and easy access are Kelly Park, Scurrah's Landing and Sebastian Inlet. The Indian River accessed from Sebastian inlet is the most versatile launch, with good launches and wind for any wind direction, whereas Kelly and Scurrah's are not easily sail able in any west wind.
If you are testing slalom equipment, you won't likely find sailing partners in the area, I believe I may be the only local sailor with racing gear, and I live in Vero. Of course, I would love to race around with you sometime.

the park at pineda and US 1 is the closest. it has everything you are looking for applicable to the upper right hand of the compass.
wind shadow from thee bridge would start at about 100 degrees. shifty, gusty from offshores would start at about 350 degrees.
the causeways have been hardened in lots of places, but there still are spots to be had closer to his house than kelly or scurrah's _________________ www.aerotechsails.com

dry season thermals can be counter intuitive. pretty frustrating at times too for cocoa beach to melbourne wave sailors. seabreeze attaches quite late along that part of the barrier island. dunno why, it just doesn't.
best set up, light SW in the morning. 88+ degrees inland of US 1 in late morning. as wet season approaches, this scenario becomes less reliable.
counter to the seabreeze is the land breeze in november esp. ocala can ber 30 degrees colder than the 20 mile buoy. creates an exhaust off the peninsula that is bitterly cold. holds off the marine layer that may be blasting NE to N. again, much to the frustration of brevard wave sailors on a working schedule.
best place to capture a sesh during land breeze: banana river resort, or cape canaveral hospital launch. _________________ www.aerotechsails.com
