In regards to repair / damage:

I have owned one or two inflatable windSUPs (starboard) every year for the last 4 years. (For demos and sales)

Of all the boards I have cared for (or not cared for) - only one has been majorly damaged and then repaired. That one was slammed in a car door and the side rail was punctured. (very odd incident)
It could still hold 18 PSI after the repair.

Youtube has a plethora of inflatable repair videos.

I don't think an average person could stab a knife into a pumped up inflatable.
