I hate saying this, and I know how much science goes behind every forecast... But I gotta say my iPhone predicted wind at noon today And was spot on
Laughing whereas our dedicated wind sports forecasters called for minor low teens...

TI have yet to find any consistently superior forecast source in the Gorge area.
Every source wins enough contests that I watch many forecasts, pick among them almost by throwing darts, watch for subtle nuances such as IT WILL BE GUSTY AS HELL AND LAST LESS THAN AN HOUR, and usually start my engine after it gets sailable. Which side I err on depends on how desperate I am; on a cold, crappy spring day I want pretty good odds of a few hours of decent wind, while in November (or in a summer like the last two), I'll take damned near anything even if I have to drive based on the forecast, rig a few sails and boards in advance, put on all my gear but my helmet, stand there waiting for the blast to hit, then plug and play as long as it cooperates knowing that it may last only an hour.

Don't you know the ebb kills the wind?
