Not sure why any of that bonzer stuff means anything to this OP. Les is not in business, you can't by one, so who cares?
Brian makes his own side fins in his shop and supplies them with the board. If you need another, just ask him.
Get an Open Ocean, you will like it.

I'd expect that anyone considering investing four figures, the wait time, and his hopes for a one-off custom board would care about the technology going into and onto it. Whether a buyer cares is up to him ... and ditto any lurkers with the same interests.

You are correct nothing to do with 5 fins. The remainder of the board construction could, obvious not the point.
I have a Fanatic that I tried as a 5 finned bonzer, too much drag, quit trying to find the correct combo..... Hey maybe this spring..or not

Brian's boards don't need 3 fins to be awesome.

Most are, but you don't have to run them that way, you can just put fin
root stubs (or tape over) the side fin boxes and run them single fin.
In disorganized chop (and I see a lot of it at the Hatchery) his trifin
setup works for me.
Or, if you know what you want, you can just have him make you that,
i.e. single fin box.
And now we're getting to the root of custom boards. You really have to know how you sail and be able to describe it clearly, and you have to
be able to describe your venue very clearly. It doesn't hurt to tell Brian
about past boards you've really enjoyed also. He might slip in a similar
ride for ya.
If you describe yourself as a kick ass loop'n wave sailor with a killer bottom
turn, who never goes out unless it's double mast high, but really pivot jibe
on 2 foot chop at the Event Site, you are not going to like your custom
board. Depends on how objective you can be.

I like multi fins, if the single is your preference , fine. Singles will never go away.
Craig.. Got all that. I think the communication with the shaper is the key ingredient.

My biggest OO @ 120ltrs has a powerbox. Brian put the side fin boxes in but I don't use them. I think it would be pretty silly to run the side fins with a big ol' dagger fin.
