Anyone have a lead for getting the translucent or opaque style washer as seen on some JP fins?
Is it a latex or gum rubber type material? |

I believe your asking about the opaque washers included on the attachment screw for power box fins. I've gone to Home Deport (or Lowes) and looked through the various black rubber type washers in the plumbing aisle. You can easily find ones that match closely. The rubber washer compresses nicely when the fin screw is tightened and helps keep the bolt snug. I found the black ones worked fine. |

Take it a step further and use a piece of rubber hose to retain your powerbox screw so you can leave the screw in the box permanently without losing it. Stick the screw into its hole, then slide or screw a short piece (a cm or so) of 7/32" windshield wiper/washer/vacuum hose over the screw to the bottom of the cavity. If it interferes with the fin when installed, shorten the hose segment. No more lost screws, and you always have it where you need it. |

Picture of the washer material. Also interesting to note the similarity in that data panel in the two brands of fins.
