Fixing the Berkeley Sensor has got to be priority number one at this time of year. What is taking them so long? Come on iWindsurf: let's get to work!
Enough excuses!

Season is no longer around the corner - it has arrived, thank you wind gods!
Had to guess today on rigging and luckily nailed it for an hour then it nuked and I got off the water but what about manana?
As the other sailors have pointed out - the HLS sensor is key to sailing the East Bay and we all look forward to seeing a new sensor up and running as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance.

ronadler, WNDZRFR, summertime, windoggie, and others:
We definitely understand the importance of the Berkeley sensor and it's failure caught all of us off-guard. It was a complete structural collapse, a flagpole that had been in place for 15 years suddenly peeled off the side of HLS during a spring storm.
At WeatherFlow we have to plan trips out weeks or even a month in advance in order to move so much hardware around the country and align w/ boat rides, tower permissions, USCG demands etc. We need to prioritize our efforts over a 600 sensor network and there are several projects ahead of Berkeley.
It's high up on the list and slated for repair but it won't happen before the 3rd week of April. In the meantime, enjoy the new Sherman M12 / Benicia / Pt Isabel and rebuilt Sherman M14 sensors. We've definitely given our SF client base some healthy additions over the winter of 2016.

Hi Gang,
Please remember that every Weatherflow sensor in our 600+ sensor network across the USA is the MOST important sensor we have to the locals who depend upon that sensor.
At any given time we have over 99% of our sensors operational. However lightning, fishing lines, kite lines, falling trees, corrosion etc. etc. are constantly taking out sensors.
So we have teams constantly flying about the USA with repair and replacement equipment renting trucks, ladders, boats etc to make repairs.
Setting up the logistics of each of these repairs involves arranging air flights, hotels, getting access and often waiting the right tide and wind. In addition we need to arrange permission from property owners, the coast guard etc.
So it is impossible to cancel all our reservations etc. and drop everything and fly a crew out to repair your or my favorite sensor. So when a sensor like Berkeley goes down it goes into queue and we begin the logistics of getting a crew there ASAP.
(Yes, we have a network of local volunteer techs who do routine maintenance but major repairs requires more expertise and equipment)
This video shows the sensor crew in operation in the Bay Area over a 2 day period.
