Glad to see HLS is in the cue! But I do have to disagree on the importance of the HLS sensor - it's definitely the most important one out of the 600!
Hey I've noticed the old Pt. Is sensor was still up when I rode the Bay Trail not long ago, why not grab that one and put it up on HLS, save some dough.
And yes we can see the remaining broken mounting pieces on the side of HLS still there. I don't think the problem was the iwind gear it was the weathered/dry rotted side of HLS just letting go!
While you're at it throw some barbed wire on top of the sensor so the gulls can't make a game out of stopping the wurlybird thing from spinning.

Actually the best weather radio report was done for a few weeks by a real person who had barely mastered spoken english.
For example Tomales Bay was pronounced Tamales Bay while Dillon Beach was said as Dillon Bi+ch.

I ventured down to Berkeley Marina this afternoon armed with only the information gleaned from the trees in my neighborhood. I looked at the water, felt the wind and decided ON MY OWN to rig a 5.6. It was strange at first...I have learned not go out until iwindsurf says go. To my surprise, I had a great session! I feel so liberated!

I did the same but of course added a half meter to crest 30mph.
At this rate we might learn how to rig like we did in the old days - before all this technology!
But then as I remember those days I only had one or maybe two sails so the decision was way easier than compared to today having 6 sail options!
Something to be said about Kevin's one size fits all conditions system.

Thankfully Berkeley sensor is back! Looks like this was the case as of yesterday Tues 4/19. Thanks Stuart/Mike/RepairTeams/iWindsurf!

It's Official - The HLS Sensor Reads Low by an Average of 3-4 mph!
Having sailed at HLS with the new sensor a few times now and especially today with a strong west wind I can now confirm it reads low.
How am I able to do this? Well since you asked: Over the last 5 years I have been averaging over 90 days a year at HLS and so I made an in depth chart that has average wind speed and wind range for each of my 7 sails for quick reference and rigging specs.
Today from 4-5pm (when I was on the water) the sensor average was 22-23mph. By my chart I would have rigged a 6.3 for 22mph or less and a 5.9 for 23mph+. But instead because of the conditions I felt in person I rigged a 5.5 and after 30 minutes of holding on I had to down haul the crap out of it just to stay on the water! To be Op'ed on my 5.5 the average needs to be blowing 27+ mph (the chart only works for my gear and sailing style at HLS). So here's proof in the pudding.
On the other hand I hear the new sensor at PI is very accurate now!

Steve, what does - knowing that a sensor is reading low have to do with becoming a new man through weight lifting?
Me confused... Sometimes I just don't get the older generations sense of humor.
