How well or poorly will a goya sail; say in the 4.2 to 5.2 range, rig on a Neil Pryde mast?
From looking at unifier's chart, it looks like they have a similar bend curve.
Has anyone tried it?
Thanks |

Neilpryde are in the high flex top category. The leech will get quite soft before you get enough tension down low with the battens sticking out way too much beyond the mast. Similar problem with using Gaastra sails with CC masts.
Because Goya mast are slightly flex top, it can work but not optimal (from a friend's experience). What are the main reasons you are thinking about this combo?
I tried an EZZY mast rdm in a neilpryde sail and it worked really really well (better than the intended NP mast), I also tried a Neilpryde mast in a North sail and it was horrible and didn't rig well at all as the bottom sail shape was twisting in odd ways. _________________ *NEW* - Manu's Windsurfing Blog, The STORE! |

I am interested in trying it because I own a few NP masts but want to try Goya sails.
It is interesting that Ezzy rdm masts work well with NP sails but goyas do not rig well on NP masts. Up until last year Winddance was selling Goya sails and Ezzy masts as a combo. So NP rigs well on Ezzy or NP and Goya rigs well on Ezzy but Goya does not rig well on NP. |

It's more like you'll get a floppy top before you have enough battens clearance. So you'll lose some bottom end and possible high end stability. Also when wave riding clewfirst it'll feel funny.
If you can bring your masts to the shop rig them up and send videos moving the sail around. Feel the pocket, push on the sail. Press down on the mast tip. Look at battens / mast room. Etc.
What's the carbon % on your Neilpryde? _________________ *NEW* - Manu's Windsurfing Blog, The STORE! |

What chart are you looking at..?
Their are no sails that show softer top than NP.
GOYA want mostly constant curve, the one mast has 1 dot in flex top.
Very few sails work with NP s curve. _________________ K4 fins

I use NP masts with my Naish session sails. They work fine for me. The sails rig floppy at the top due to the nP softness up there, but i like it.
As someone else said try it, if you can , it may work fine. |
