John Fitzgerald does excellent repairs on sails and kites. He's located in Westminster 2 blocks off of the 405. His number is 714-329-0772.

Gary Swensen at Ullman Sails at Ventura harbor. 805-644/9579. High quality and not cheap. Limited windsurfing materials. I've brought materials in after getting remnents from lofts on Maui. Remove ALL sand before bringing your sail to the loft. Consider the remaining useful life of the sail before repair. You can get great deals on used sails and last year's blowouts.

JP, while your goal was to say local, you might want to think about Sailworks in Hood River. I've used them many times with excellent results, and I like the fact that they're dedicated to windsurfing, and they have the materials and knowledge to get things right. Moreover, they're open to repairing all brands.

The best thing that I like, is not having to drive around. Ship locally FED-X, and few days later the repaired product is on your door.

Excellent suggestion SW, thank you! I am curious though as to the cost of shipping to and from Oregon added to the cost of the repair itself.

JP, to help reduce your shipping cost, you can sign up for a FED-X account. That's what I did a number of years ago, and it brings you close to the pricing that a business gets.

To get a approximate idea of your total shipping cost, I would call Sailworks and ask what they would charge you for shipping the sail back to you. If you already have a box, it just might help to keep the cost down.

I tried to go back and see what I spent, but I unfortunately lost the history when my old computer died. All my more recent buys from Sailworks included no charge for shipping, because they were for new equipment.

Had a repair once at bluewater sails. Great service and people. Average cost I'd say. 310 823-5545 Give them a try.
