My question has anyone tried the new
5 batten elites looking to replace my 6.9 tiger with the 6.8 elite!

I have same question. I'm on market for big wave sail and trying to choose between Elite 6.8 and Tiger 6.9

You might already know that they came out with a 5 batten Zeta wave sail to replace the Tiger. Just to make your choices more difficult

Yes, I know that.
For some reason they didn't listed Elite for 2017. Is it discontinued? Is Zeta replace Tiger or Elite?

Supposedly, Elite will have more low end power for 2017. Zeta is based on Taka, and replaces Tiger. Remember when Ezzy lineup was simple?

How can a 5 batten sail(Zeta) be based on a 3batten Taka?

I read that the a Tiger and Elite were going to be one.. not shown yet?

From the Ezzy Zeta ad in the Jan-Feb issue of Windsurf magazine: "Instead of tweaking the existing 5-batten sail, the Tiger, David worked on turning the 3-batten Taka into a 5-batten sail." Guess I'd ask David.

So I rode the 5 batten 6.4 Elite in flat water at SPI. My take was it was lite stable and fun to sail. Pretty fast once it got going. Easy to flip in a turn. It required a bit of tuning to get it set right. Really good freeride to wave sail for lite weight sailors. I think the Cheetah would be a better choice for the bigger guys for freeriding. A touch better low end power and top end speed.
For a big wave sail, the Elite does everything the Tiger does with a very crisp and lite feel. I also rode the 2016 4.7 Elite. This sail rocks. I can not think of any reason to get a Zeta or Tiger over the Elite in the smaller sizes. say 5.7 down. Power and speed are great and it feels like a feather in the turns.
The 4.7 was rig and go type of sailing. Set it to the mid and forget it the rest of the day. If you do feel like you need a bit of tuning, its all done with the out haul.

For 2017 the new Elite comes out soon.
The Taka, Zeta and Elite take the Tigers place , depending on preference.

Not certain but think the Elite will be 5 battens all sizes.

My 6.1 Elite with 4 battens works great.
I was not aware that the the 6.4 6.8 had 5battens.

Not the way I see it so far~
Taka - 3 full battens
Elite - 4 full battens up to 6.1 then 5 after that
Zeta - 5 full battens all the way
Tiger - RIP
