My son can water start, and use the harness/footstraps pretty good and can hold upwind ground planing on 95L if there is not much flood, but I would have some reservations of him making it upwind in a strong flood. |
The flood will definitely tend to flatten out the water which will help everyone for the downwind portion of the race. As long as the course is properly set so that there is no beating to get to the next mark, the flood will not be a problem. Their is however the issue of getting back upwind for the next heat. One must be smart and rig the gear that allows them to sail back up in a timely fashion. This could be as simple as having the right size fin or using a bigger board. Get out there early and test the course before the race starts. Hope to see you there. Sail ON! |

The finish line is just in front of the stfyc beach so use it to take a break before you have to sail back upwind in the flood. After that there's only last chance beach which requires a walk of shame back upwind :/
Be sure to check out the premium iwindsurf features made available to racers this Friday and Saturday by our sponsor i windsurf. Thanks guys!
Also- to note- Memorial Day weekend Crissy Field Memo:
Sunny, lighter winds, flooding all afternoon.
Crowded beach ! Possibly lot full, parking lot entrance could be closed.
Arrive early.
Please remember we share this wonderful recreation area with others and dont have any exclusive rights above any other park users. Please show some respect and be good stewards of the wind community. |

It was another great afternoon of slalom racing on the city front with 18 racers taking part in the 2nd crissy field slalom series of 2016.
Fresh winds greeted racers for the 1st round with 18-24k of breeze on the course and a steep city front chop on the course.
Jason Voss and Xavier Ferlet led the way battling it out for the top 2 positions while locals, Jean, Rathle, David Wells and myself jockeyed for the remaining podium in the A fleet.
The B fleet was dominated by Vincent Fallourd with a commanding lead over Nick Mast and Yannick Germain.
3 more racers were run after a break but the breeze started to die and the flood kick in making it challenging for those still on their small kits.
As for me- maybe a bit too aggressive with 2 OCS's and 1 foul on the course but full stoke around around.
Many thanks to the volunteers and sponsor who made the event possible.
Next slalom race is Rio Vista Grand Slalom June 17-19 followed by the St.FYC Friday Night Slalom Series on July 8 and City Front Slalom Race On July 9 at the St.FYC |
