Thanks for the advice from all who responded, all very helpful. Used a combination of methods (bar soap, sanding the sides and taper, a couple of washers and gently cranking the screws) repeating until perfect fin fit accomplished.

Photo evidence below. Too bad I forgot to take a "before".

BTW apparently Bic gave up on the Trimbox sometime in the 2000s and switched to Deep Tuttle.

Took the now fitting fin out on the water yesterday and the difference was noticeable. In particular, spin out was drastically reduced and I think I gained a few knots top end speed.
